IT'S ABOUT TIME
The influence of relationship satisfaction in first responder marriages is directly connected to their mental, physical, and spiritual health, so isn't it about time we offered more ways for the spouses of first responders to be supported, better educated, and more involved?
EXCLUSIVE PROGRAMS FOR SPOUSES OF FIRST RESPONDERS
There is a massive amount of credible research showing a direct connection between the quality of mental health in first responders to the quality of their marriages; in fact, the research of both first responders and combat veterans shows this connection to be cross-supporting, meaning that the better the mental health, the better the marriage, and the better the marriage, the better the mental health. So why aren't we doing more to better educate them on how the first responder's job effects the brain, the nervous system, their resiliency against issues like addiction and suicide, and what specifically spouses can do with this information to help them?
We believe it's about time we did just that, so we created a program specifically for the spouses of first responders in order to achieve a mission of 3 PRIMARY GOALS:
OUR THREE-FOLD MISSION:
SUPPORTING OTHER SPOUSES
Providing a way for spouses of first responders to support each other through a networking bond goes a long way to improving their marriage and family.
BECOMING EDUCATED
It's high time we stopped leaving spouses in the dark when it comes to the effect of the job, its influence on the marriage, and how they can use this information to help.
CHANGING THE CULTURE
If better marriages = better mental health for first responders, then we can influence the entire culture through better involvement of their spouses.
LAUNCHING OUR MISSION...
PEER SUPPORT TRAINING FOR SPOUSES
Our vision for 2025 is launching this mission in the form of a new outreach to the spouses of first responders that we call Peer Support Training for Spouses. These events will take place exclusively at various locations around the Dallas/Fort Worth area, until we train and certify others to host it in their region. The atmosphere would be fun and casual, with great food, door prizes, and lots of social networking among spouses, but more importantly, we will be bringing mental health professionals, first responders and their spouses, and other guest speakers to educate and train on what the spouses of first responders should know about what's going on in the brain and the body of their spouse because of the job, and what they specifically can do to help.
We are convinced this experience will go a long way towards achieving our mission by not only helping the spouses of first responders, but, in doing so, we can help the first responders and their entire culture.
